Battling out heresy.

A few days ago, a couple of colleagues of mine were debating before our final exam about Christ. Believe it or not, the debate was intentional to help us understand the exam. I made a comment that sounded heretical from a Christological point-of-view, for which my colleagues thankfully corrected me. I still want to jot out my thoughts on the matter because perhaps what I said may have been heretical-sounding, but my intention was not.

If there were words to express how humbled I have been this last week, I am certainly not knowledgeable of them.

I have hurt a friend in a very deep way and I have hurt myself more so.  I completely took advantage of him because of my own weakness and my inability to have things go my way, in spite of lack of communication.  I think he forgave me, quite immediately.  But I have rarely felt so low in my life Read the rest of this entry »

Trials, Trials, Trials

It’s downright criminal how difficult it is to avoid sin.  I feel like the harder I try to avoid it, the more tempting it becomes.  I wish I could learn my lesson from this and move on.  I’m trying to see the big picture.  I’m trying to remind myself that I deserve so much more than what sin will offer me.  I’m trying to remind myself that I am loved and missed. If Your Right Eye Offends

 If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one of your members than to have your whole body thrown into Gehenna.

And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one of
your members than to have your whole body go into Gehenna.  (Matt. 5:29-30)
