Ceremony and Prayer

I missed a Mass yesterday.  I was traveling and I knew I would miss the early ones, so I had intended to make a 5 o’clock Mass.  But having been up since 3 am, I ended up napping through.  I felt awful.  There isn’t a good excuse.  It was the solemnity of corpus Christi.   I can already feel the effects of my absence.  Something just seems amiss. Adjusting and Mother’s Day

I’ve been reflecting more.  On Friday, I found myself in quite a foul mood and I couldn’t put my finger on why.  I thought it might be Mother’s Day that was getting at me a bit (sometimes it happens), but that’s not really it.  I think it has more to do with adjusting. Oh Happy Resurrection!

This Easter Vigil was the greatest of all the Masses in the year!  Having gone through the motions of being brought into communion with the Church, I make it a point to attend the Vigil, when all the new candidates are baptized, confirmed and communed.  It always renews my vigor for my faith.

In my heart, though, I carry the thoughts of my dear friend and sponsor into the Church.  He doubts now and questions even the existence of God.  We joke lightly when we chat with each other–that he forfeited his faith to me and I forfeited my atheism to him when I converted.  Read the rest of this entry »

Tonight is My Last Night as a ___!

Tonight I remain still married, but tomorrow morning I no longer will be.  When my husband told me about this, I held my tears back, but sobbed violently when he left.  I wish I could have cried before him, but I don’t know why I wish that.
